when i first heard Kiara was gonna be in TLG i got pretty excited because i thought she'd be a teen/older and i was kinda disappointed when they ended up pretty much the same
so here's my tiny headcanon that Kiara's actually a little bigger than Kion since shes the older sister

I think it's fair to presume they were born at relatively the same time.
Disney's lion cubs all look a lot smaller than they'd actually be in real life. They look kitten sized, but lion cubs of that age are about the size of a full grown cougar. And of course Simba would be massive.

There's an obvious issue because we see Kiara grown up in Simba's Pride, but we never see any other male lions. The entire pride is female except for Kovu.
That's not uncommon, however now we see Kion was born soon after Kiara, so where was he in Simba's Pride?
A possibility is that he left the pride once reaching adulthood, as most male lions usually do.
Anyway, I don't really care cause I love the show and I need moar moar moar!

There were only 2 male lions in the pride at the time of the original film, however that does not mean there could not have been more males in the pride before the film took place. The guard including Scar could have occured in the time before the film. The story claims that Scar "destroyed" the guard, which would explain the absence of the other males.
Bunga does introduce an inconsistency. Only because we saw Kiara full grown in Simba's Pride, so unless Bunga's involvement was temporary, then he should have been around too.
Ah well, this is the nature of hollywood entertainment, the market is way too volatile to plan epics of this nature far in advance.

Lovely drawing! <3
I haven't watched Lion Guard yet, but I was wondering how they handled Kiara/TLK2 and Kion basically not existing in that movie. Did they just say "oh Kion was alive and stuff during TLK2, he just wasn't anywhere present in the movie at all during the whole thing"? Does the Kovu/Zira thing not exist yet, or was Kion away at boarding school or something during the whole thing? P:
I had thought Kion would be born/Lion Guard set after the events of TLK2 but from what I'm hearing they're actually the same age, so.... I kinda wanna know how they're trying to make that work, lol.

They basically handle it by not addressing any of the issues at all and ignoring the original canon completely. Timeline is confusing because we honestly just don't really know when its supposed to take place. We DO know that Kovu, Vitani, and Nuka are all set to appear on the show in the future though. Whether it'll be a first time introduction or a "they've always been here btw" thing is unclear at the moment.
Hmmm, that is kind of a shame. :/ So does that mean Kiara won't be queen anymore, that Kion will bump her out of the way...? I do wonder how they're acting as if either having two different canon timelines is okay, or how Kion's complete and utter absence in TLK2 can be just brushed aside and pretended like it never happened. Either way it's a bit disappointing to some dedicated TLK fans like myself that have spent many years appreciating the already-established canon TLK universe, only for it to be changed or disregarded years later... Ah well, I guess I can't really judge it until I've seen it for myself. Soon, hopefully!
