Mor Ruksher is a powerful enchanter living in al-Jawhar, a human city in the land of the Shifting Sands. Turning his abilities to furthering his personal desires, he has a reputation for indulgence in pleasures of the flesh, wealth and power. It is through his mastery and subtlety that he has attained a position of status in the city's prosperous Court of Gold, a group of mostly bored old men who spend time making wagers and engaging in debauchery with young courtesans.

Mor Ruksher being neither bored nor old, is frowned upon by the other members, and is treated more like a servant of the club than a member by those that disapprove of him. It doesn't help that he is anthropian, which causes him to be viewed with suspicion and ridicule by Jawhari humans. He could use his powers to disguise himself or to relieve them of their fears and worries, but why prove to them he is the monster they believe him to be. Especially when playing to their fears gains him so much power and influence without wasting any magic.
