So here's a commissions I finished just last month for mr
fangsnowpaws, who's been following my stuff since ... fuck if I know, probably since I started here XD
The premise was to have him and a couple' friends of his in sci-fi armor, walking through a ruined city, looking for survivors or anything to pick up really. He gave me pretty much free reign as to what sort of gear they would have, save for himself (I designed a suit of engineering armor for him years ago which he's wearing back in that walker).
The mech I used several sources of reference for and I'm still not happy with how they turn out, but then mechs have never, ever been my strength 9.9.
The sergal armor I used plenty of reference for aswell and a bit of input from a serg-fan-friend of mine. It's probably not as 'out there' in terms of style as sergals would want armors to be to be awesome, but it's a compromise between stylistic choices and protectivity ... maybe this particular serg just has more sense in him than the others <.<
The floaty creature (Rin) didn't pose as much of a design challenge as I thought she would. Having done the other armors, things just kinda fell into place and I'm happy with how simple the setup looks.
Otherwise, I'm really happy with the general lighting and shading effects in this piece. As tedious as it was, I feel it was well worth the effort and from what fang tells me he's very pleased with it too ^^
On other things; some of you guys went all out on the feedback to Page 55 X3 very interesting reads there. I'll likely answer comments later today and I think I have a pretty solid direction I'll do Page 56 in. I noticed some of the pointers weren't going in just the right direction yet, so I'll attempt to fix that as we continue on Nele's and Tobur's journey through Morning Light.

I realize from the sound of your comment that you're happiest with the little floaty critter's armor, but that nose-piece looks like it'd block a significant part of the straight-ahead as well as forward and down field of view...Much more than the critter's muzzle itself would. Other than that, I think the designs aren't nearly so bad as you seem to think they are.
this actually is already real; just google the Lockheed martin F-35 multi-role fighter's Helmet HUD.
if the pilot looks somewhere that the normal cockpit blocks view of, the helmet switches over in real time to an AR-enhanced view that uses high-resolution cameras on the skin of the plane effectively seeing "through" the belly of the plane and displaying it on the drop-down visor of the pilots helmet

Jeeze, well that's way beyond the capabilities of what we worked on for the KA&E Comanche HIDSS back in the day. Then again, the original HIDSS was so old that it utilized miniature CRT projection systems rather than LCD screens. I shouldn't be suprised, I guess. Technology doesn't exactly last in our era.
I can see where you had issues with the mech, the left leg and arm look kind of odd it took me a moment to realize its because the mech was in motion rather than standing there. Its a bit too even like its standing on a perfectly flat surface and while facing straight ahead it loses a lot of possible depth. Other than that its pretty fantastic work all around.
Ooooooh… I like! I like a lot.
I can sorta see while you'r no fully happy with the mech. Its by no means bad… but it is… missing something, lacking a better term. Still a great picture though. Certainly gets the point across :) I also like the glowy parts and I think the sergal's armor look great!
Man, I wish I could afford to commission you again. Mind you, I probably couldn't decide between all the ideas I had if I could ;)

That's really fantastic. I love how far your armor designs have come, especially for the Sergal with that awesome weapon. Looks like a shotgun with that magazine setup.
Despite you not being very well versed in mechs, it came out pretty good!
I love the little holo-effects on their visors and on the Sergal's hand.

One thing you could have to the Mech is add in model numbers, warning stripes around certain areas like vents, and to mix shades of grey, silver and black into the color palate. I mean, I'm not artist, but when I was building them out of little plastic bricks years ago, it really helped let the details stand out in photographs.
Well, that can be either good or bad X3 I hadn't planned to depict anyone in the car, although in retrospect it would make more sense.
I've seen a couple' takes on sci-fi sergals, but I suppose I'm still too far seated in the believable armor segment to truly make sergally Sergals XD
