Hah! Serves him right. Very nice twist in the story, although I had a hunch there would be something like that when the hunter approached the house with all the signs. There's a certain moral in the story, and you tell it well, without being violent or cruel. Very, very good. I enjoyed reading this very much, I laughed out loud in the end. Good work here, truly an entertaining read.
Very nice. I liked everything about this story, and I found myself getting lost in it while reading. That's a sign of some excellent writing. And I didn't see the ending coming, which was another plus. I mean I figured that hunter had something coming to him, but I didn't see what it was till it happened.
*smiles and nods*
I know what you mean, dear... I have had that happening to me sometimes, too. Every now and then, an idea just blossoms up, and your fingers can do nothing but obey as the words make their way out f your mind and into your pen or keyboard... but some of the best stories are written that way =^.^=

Yes really. You have touched (if briefly) upon several possible subjects, some which furries like, and others which just make a good story. Transformation, animal preservation, and an engrossing folkloric kind of storytelling which deals with crises of identity, morals and possibly, the afterlife.

This is a classic Irish folk tale (well, a rendition of it) which you have touched on. The premise that once you enter, you may never leave. The sanctuary might be a magical place similar to Tir Na Nog. The hunter represents something much different, but yet the same. Without the animals, the hunter is nothing, he has no reason to brandish his gun. The wolf man could teach the hunter "things" about the animals he once hunted and what the sanctuary means. And unlike Oisin, whose identity and self lies with the Fianna, the hunters lies with the animals, so after initial revulsion and rebellion against his lot in the sanctuary, he begins to maybe like it?

*jaw drops... dang...
I never in a hundred years woulda thought that... and I'm not being silly either. I would be afraid, though, that now knowing, the story would never be the same and I would botch it terribly.
and that's just a truth...
but thank you so much for showing me this.
