SullenLust - Outline - Art Tutorial
Don't mind this, just helping a fellow artist with anatomy.
Here's where we can work on things,
A) The biggest part where you may not have realized you made a mistake is on the bridge of the dragons beak. As is with any nose, snout, or face hanger offer, it needs to be directly between both eyes. Because of this, you accidentally crowded the right eye and didn't give yourself enough room to adjust it.
B) The ridge of the brow fails to compensate for the inside of the eye. This is an easy fix for you, when ever you draw an eye, simply make sure to include space above it and below it.
C) You'll also need to add a space around the side of the eye, allowing for depth.
D) Because of your brow coming down in a circle, this pinches off part of the cheek bone, and causes it to look even flatter, but thankfully, adding a small bulge will get it the depth to allow the viewer to see that there is a simple cheek line.
E) Follow the red and black lines on the top picture for part E & H, make sure that the general curvature of them matches. Your eyes must always follow themselves parallel in both the top and bottom. In this case with the readjustment for the brow and cheek bone, we see that the left eye and right eye must be adjusted. The left eye needs to drop slightly, and the right eye must come towards the left and also tilt itself down to match the angle of the left eye, while it becomes more visible, because there is now room on the facial structure to allow you to show it off.
(As a side note, when drawing, unless a profile shot, I recommend making sure to show both eyes as they are the most striking part of any piece of art, as people are naturally drawn towards them.)
F) Make sure to adjust for the natural flow of hair on the skull. Your left partition comes up to mask part of the arm, and is a bit to bouffant to be realistic, and your right partition follows the brow down to a T, instead allow it to over lap and drape over the brow. I recommend drawing circles or blank heads without faces, then drawing various people's hair styles, without worrying about facial structure, you soon come to realize hair is exceptionally easy to understand and fun to play with!
G) Very minor, but the extra line here is not needed for two reasons, one, every line you introduce to a female form takes away from the beauty of it. Pure and simple, avoid more than you need. Second, because of the adjustment on the bridge of the muzzle towards the center, it would be erased generally anyways.
I hope this quick critique helps you, and I wish you the best, if you need any more advice, I'm always around.
I look forward to your continued works.
