Backstory:
Born and raised with Southern roots, much of Marigold's young life was spent being taught by her mother how to be a proper lady. And with what time she had to pursue her own interests, she spent with the sciences. While her family owned a cattle farm, farming was never really something she looked forward to. She didn't mind the cows themselves though, especially discussing with her father methods of looking after them and making sure they were as healthy as can be. This, combined with a thirst for the mysteries of life, culminated in her studies in biological and animal sciences in university.
As she grew older, she lost some of her interest in animals, and ended up focusing more on pharmacy. Watching the news with her roommate and discussing the latest events resulted in a growing taste to help out society in the medical field. Once she graduated, she applied to several different companies, and after a few weeks, landed herself a job at one.
While she had a roommate in university, Marigold was nevertheless a shy and insecure woman. The "proper" life she grew up with led to her constantly questioning what and what not she is to do in almost any situation, especially as she became more independent, and exposed to the world. What challenged this the most was a security guard at the facility she worked at. Guy Liam was a friendly man, dedicated to his job, but always sounded like he was a bit nervous about something. He admitted the notion of playing with life-changing drugs and all the science stuff wasn't really his thing, but was otherwise quite good with his position. And Marigold was happy to hear that. Because she didn't want him to transfer anywhere. Because she had a crush on him.
It took her months to work up the courage to tell him her feelings, over which they got to know each other quite a bit. And much to her happiness, he took it very well, and admitted that he was really liking her too. Such news brought them both a lot of happiness, and working there at the facility seemed to be much more enjoyable now. But that was not fully the case. For their budding relationship had caught the eyes of the ex-girlfriend Guy had done his best to move on from: Ellen Xander.
The happiest and most pleasant receptionist you could ever meet on the outside, a conniving, wanting, and controlling snake on the inside, Ellen met Guy the same way he met Marigold, working at the pharmaceutical facility. But because of her tendency to want to control much of Guy's life outside his security guard duties, he broke up, not able to handle her, or wanting to put up with her ways. To see him starting a new relationship with this new, shy, girl from the south filled Ellen with anger. After watching their relationship grow over the next few weeks, she had enough of it. She planned to ruin them.
Visiting a particular farm owned by Grim and his family, Ellen interacted with one of the farmhands there, a certain Clementine Dariy. Understanding the farmhand's unique position at the farm, she asked if it would be possible for her to acquire some of their product. Clementine, a greedy girl who loved the thought of making a little extra, agreed to sell her some of their special milk, under the nose of Farmer Grim. The next night back at the pharmaceutical facility, Ellen sneaked into Marigold's lab with some keys she stole from Guy, and took a sample of drug she heard Marigold talk about - a sort of "miracle" drug to help people in all sorts of ways. She didn't know the details, but she thought adding it to the special milk she had might give it some more kick for the poor soul who'll be drinking it.
The next day, Marigold went to get her cup of coffee, only to find Ellen to have already gotten hers ready, complete with some cream that she usually adds to it. She thanked Ellen, surprised by the nice deed, and sat down with her cup. As she sipped her coffee, she noticed Ellen wipe something off the floor, and that her sleeve looked wet - must have spilled when she made her coffee. She smirked, and was happy to see someone cleaning up their mess. But rather than stay for her coffee, Ellen left the room as soon as she was finished. Which was odd, as she always stayed for her coffee.
After her coffee break, Marigold returned to her work in the lab. She was going to be working on the "miracle" drug, as she called it, and went to get it out of storage. But when she did, she noticed the container wasn't facing the same way she usually put it, something she found quite odd. She picked it up and brought it to her station. As she walked over though, her feet started to cramp something nasty, her toes especially. As she set the drug on the table and went to check her feet, the rest of her started to shiver and crawl with goosebumps. Then she fell to the floor.
She cried out in pain as her feet started to stretch out, bones and muscles changing to compensate, while toes and toenails fused together, until she only had two, thick nailed toes, which seemingly amalgamated with the rest of her foot, with the rest of her leg, until she had what looked like cow hoofed legs! Her nose tingled and reshaped into a big, pink, wet one, also bovine in form, her ears stretched out, while two spots on her head formed mounds of keratin which became small horns. A fine white and black fuzz grew across her body, absorbing her tears as she wept in despair. She cried even more so as her spine shot out to a tail with a tuft of hair on the end. Then she felt a swelling beneath her navel, sensitive flesh building up, pushing out, bulging from her pants. The more it pressed, the more she wanted to undo her pants to release the pressure; but she couldn't! That wouldn't be right! But she had to. She undid her pants, and as she did, what came into sight pushing forth from them, was a large udder. As pink as her breasts have become.
By some cruel act, Marigold was warped into a human/cow hybrid.
Guy rushed into the lab, hearing her cries. But when he saw what she had become, he broke. He had never seen someone transformed, aside from in movies. There were good reasons why they should only be found in movies and shows. And now, here was one, his girlfriend, reshaped by powers he had no idea existed. He fell to the floor, horrified by what had happened to her. As she regained her strength, she looked up to him, and stretched her arm out. His heart pounding hard, he didn't know what to do. But then he realized...this was still his girlfriend. His girlfriend who needed lots of help right now. Pulling himself together, he got up and slowly walked toward her, looking into her eyes, grabbing her hand, and pulled her up.
With a body that was a cross between a human and a cow, Marigold was even more insecure than she was before. With a big udder hanging from her, she couldn't wear panties easily, and such an inhuman body would surely draw attention from everyone! Her body was now at conflict with everything her mom taught her. Guy did his best to comfort her, but it was still taking some time for himself to get used to her new body.
Her life had drastically changed, and for one of the first times in her life, had no idea what to do next...
