Oh god, there's so much backstory behind this picture,
both of the chara,
and of the making of this pic.

This isn't my chara, but a friend of mine,  ThabianGD . (aka: redneckdalak on picarto)
The backstory of the chara is she's part of an RP set 15 years in the future, in a bumfck town in northern USA, somewhere close to the canadian border, after much of the west has been devistated by a massive dragon waking up, power nuking the area, and various other groups making grabs for Teritory. The south pretty much secedes, So the country is split into 3, and this little place in nowhere gets physicly cut off from everyone else. It's part of an experiment by a succubus princess who wants to breed her own warriors. Since there's a new dragon faction on the west coast, made up of people who were changed by this energy wave released by this giant dragon thing, the princess develops her own breed of cross human/wyvern, with elemental traits for powers. Jacky is a trait of steel.

Pretty much this picture is a gift for ThabianGD, as I managed to get lucky and got one of the last spots on fred's commission list for winter 15.
When I initially signed up, I really didn't have any idea what pictures I wanted, so I made a deal with him that we would have one together, and then one each of either our own charas, or our charas doing something together.
Some sexual situation or what have you.
I got a brainstorm of what I wanted for the first pic, and told thabs about the idea, and he wholeheartedly agreed.
Result is the flitter group pic that was posted.
I still cannot stress how much beyond my own imagination and expectations that one exceeded.
We then kind of dithered around on the 2nd and 3rd pic.
The second was ment to be one of his charas, and at first I was pushing for a shadow girl hybrid he has named Jeta.
A goth girl who was partially eaten by a little demon, and then saved by a shadow being, but who sacrificed himself so she could be fixed. But because of her body damage, Jeta was always self concious about herself, so for the longest time she would wear full body goth outfits, which... while we do like goth loli, it wouldn't allow for good body visuals and still be within the chara. So we scrapped that idea.
He wanted jacky. This was an RP we had just started working on, and... we hadn't really done a whole lot with, but he had a clear idea of what she was like and everything.
What he WANTED, was something that could look like the cover of a comic. Her 'issue 1'.
I kept asking him what sort of pose he wanted out of her. I thought maybe we could have her being stalked by her nemisis, one of the guys from the bank she worked at, and now imbued with earth elemental powers, but thabs said that would be more like a later issue cover. Issue 3 or 5 or something.
He wanted the issue 1 look.

Now... here's the thing. While this is a gift, there was a little bit of drama going on with someone else trying to sell their commission slot to someone else. Agency is what Dragen called it.
We weren't sure about how this would work out, so thabs and I worked it so in the chat and emails, I was the one calling the shots, but I would relay info back and forth.
Unfortunately, because thabs lives on the other side of the planet, Australia, he's almost a full 12 hours difference from fred. So he has to be up and way early in the effin morning to be able to catch when fred does a stream.
When fred finally managed to get to my commission spot again, he wasn't awake. So instead of just passing the spot up to have it worked on, I told fred to just work on the 3rd picture, which was Noa, just dancing, and we'd work on Jacky later on.
Thabs woke up like not even 2 minutes later. Groggy and pissed now.
But in the end, it worked out because of other factors.

Thabs realized he wanted to get more reference pictures going for her,
and something we were doing was checking out other picarto streams. One stream we were introduced was Agawa.
Something Agawa sensei does, is have streams with other people. Those other people like to work on commissions.
So Thabs up and commissioned one person, and got a nice sort of charcoal like picture out of it. (namelink here)
Then he got another guy  Luckeux to work on jacky as well, and offered the cheat sheet that fred came up with.
He really liked the design of the sheet, and worked extra hard to make jacky look good.
At first he did just a B&W, but then after thabs said he wanted to get that colored, he offered to color it, I think for like... 25 bucks or something. I can't remember exact price, but it was way lower then the amount of work he put into it. Like...20 HOURS worth of work. total mind you, but still...
And this is a guy who wasn't like fred or agawa, who you could tell he was struggling here and there with aspects that weren't quite normal, like her horns.
Those were giving him shit. He was working to get her right horn looking just right, selecting and moving it, and reblending it, and then copying, flipping, and setting on the other side, and blending that in. And then the work on her legs and shoulders... oh my god, holy shit he did some work on her.

So when this FINALLY came back around on fred's list, he went off the sheet, which had an anime dragon girl and a couple other references. Fred starts by doing a nice dance of her sort of twirling, holding her arm.
For me... and thabs who was awake after I sent him a bunch of wake up pings on Aim (although at first I sent them to noxydraws by mistake. Sorry noxy. Trix are for kids) he was up and groggy, but able to follow what was going on, and agreed the pose wasn't quite right. I could tell fred was channeling Animalympics, and the gecko gymnast.
That wasn't Jacky.
After talking with Thabs, he described her as more tribal dancing. Stomping.
So fred took that and went with it, and you can see how she looks in that sketch pic in scraps.
And we agreed that was perfect for her.
So he worked on her.

There's more I'd like to relate on that regard, but I can't say anything at this juncture. Maybe later when I get the okay.

But the end result was beyond anything we could comprehend.
Thabs wanted that 'issue 1', and we got it. in spades. And hearts, and clubs, and diamonds.
