I started tinkering about on that Paint thing. You can tell I suck at it, right? I tried doing this because I was looking at my Cyrus pic by Maxima (I still love that pic so much I wish I could have it as a poster in my wall) and started pondering, what would Cyrus look like if he cut his mane short but kept the beard? Looking at it closely, I think he'd look damn fine with his mane cut short, though I also like him with his mane long. What do you think, do you like him with long mane, do you think he'd look good with his mane cut short, or do both look fine?

Ffffff, I know, right? I'm so torn, both look so good! Short mane means easier to wash and dry, doesn't get in the way. Long mane looks good loose and also tied up as a ponytail. Both sides have positives.
My issue with cutting it and letting it grow out is that, well, wouldn't it take a long time to grow out?

I was more thinking of just how his face looks surrounded by either the short or long mane, but your points are good too.
Yes, but that time needn't be reflected in any art you get of him. If you had the money you could get pics of him short-maned and long-maned back to back and just say they were from months apart.

I wouldn't say "surrounded" though. His mane is more like hair and beard than an actual lion mane, that's why his mane is mostly all in the back, with just those strands over the front of his shoulders in Maxima's pics.
And well, if I ever get the chance, I may give it a shot, a sort of what-if to see how it goes.
