is a plushie toy fennic.
its a mesh i didn't create myself, so i gave it a texture that i hoped would make it look like fabric.
i have some low res pokimon meshes that probably would have worked as well,
mostly i ended up using this one just because i hadn't used it before.
(and hadn't realized it would look that real from this angle)

hadn't thought of that, but yes of course. and something could. although it isn't really a world of toon fantasy. just alien. which means unexplained technologies, but they're still technologies, and unfamiliar living organisms, but living organisms are still living organisms. and magic is psionic rather then spiritual. but then spiritual is psionic too. just composed of non-physical, non-physically detectable, energy fields and structures. of course any plushie could be a 'teddy ruxpin' anamatronic. well after all we have that in our world now. well no many artists have given animatronic robo-pets plushie exteriors. the combination of skills is i suppose still uncommon and somewhat costly. though not unreasonably so to make. they'd just still have to be expensive to buy for their makers to make a profit. but people buy fursuits. they wouldn't really have to be any more expensive then that.
in my own world of course, its history has fallowed, a very alien path, one with an entirely different social environment of positive incentives not based on symbolic value. (and not based on stress or anxiety either) somewhere between potlatching and tolkins concept of the mathom house. like the technology, the fantasy element is in a kind of deu ex saying 'well its there, i don't claim to know everything about how it works either, any more then most people do when they turn on a light switch'.
whatever the reasons, its dominant culture is one that has learned to respect the natural environment too. possibly because somewhere in its history, it experienced something like what our own world, may very likely be on the verge of.
