I am thinking this character will be strongly associated with the mythical Peryton, though I've not yet gotten to that bit. Right now, I'm just painting a deer butt, lol.

Thanks! I actually have the opposite problem; I tend toward too many neutrals that can make the whole image look too gray if I'm not careful. But I do have color theory and oil/gouache/watercolor experience, so I at least know the hazards of using straight black.
