Well, I can't come here and bullshit you about how I'm a pro artist who's just going for an alternative style, because I'm really not. This is my first time drawing something for FA (although I've been going around taking the piss and admiring a lot of users I've discovered here since 2014) and my only resources were an eraser and a pencil.
Since there are no colors, it's pretty difficult to figure out some aspects of the picture. You can barely see their tails. Their hooves, their finger-hooves, are not at all well-shapen. And I couldn't emulate black correctly, and I couldn't contrast most borders. There's a triangle on Pronk's shirt that is supposed to be an open end some shirts have. Their arms...their heads...Bucky's antlers...their pants, as well...most things don't convince me, but I wanted to do it anyway, even if I did not have drawing pencils or pastels or a digital Photoshop drawing app at hand.
It's kind of a rough, impressionist sketch. But don't worry! It's the first impression of a work in progress.
I chose a giant paper sheet that could be folded as a Playboy double feature page, so they could fit better...
At least I'm bringing a new idea to the world, and hopefully people will draw more of these two.
And what are they doing?
I was inspired by Terry Richardson's awesome photoshoots. It's as if the Oryx-Antlersons payed a visit to his studio, brought a bag of weed with them, and lit a blunt for one of the pictures. And Terry made them pose like that: "Pronk will be holding the blunt Bucky will be having. And that's how it's done..."
Either they are stepbrothers who live together, or a volatile homosexual married couple** (hence two animals of different antelope species sharing a hyphened name).
One can only dream...or probably some dummy will hit Rich or Byron on Twitter and force them to confess what's with the Oryx-Antlersons. Don't do that, please. Let the inquiry live on.
I would love to draw another one of these and have them hug while they stare back at us with that same gaze.
