They look better with the bigger tongues.

There was this line of dialogue in the Fallout 3 DLC Point Lookout, where you ask a character about their past, and they reply:

"My story? Tell you what, kid. My story's a lot like a deathclaw's tongue. It's long, messy, and you don't want to get too personal with it. Understand?"

To my infinite shame, my IMMEDIATE inner thought was: "Heck, that sounds like something id VERY much want to get personal with..."

I then stopped playing and stared into a mirror for a half hour, pondering what even is my life.

Long story short: Deathclaws are hawt as fuck.

Yeah the older Deathclaw models used to have larger tongues. Seeing as the Deathclaw is supposedly a highly-irradiated and mutated relative of the Jackson's Chameleon, it probably would have a more appropriately sized tongue even with magic radiation-based evolution.
