Sorry it's been a while! I've been busy with cons and commissions! If I fall behind on updates I'll make it up in April post-FWA and posthaste!
I researched the hell out of the game Leon's playing. You can tell they're younger because Simon has fewer ear piercings. Also: WOW we're at the "let's bang while playing video games" scene in every stupid furry comic that I hate.

Well actually no progress would be lost if you quit, you could try again later to get the souls. Assuming it actually is Dark Souls Leon is playing. Or perhaps the False Start world's version of Dark Souls is just unfair. As hard as Dark Souls is it's still well balanced enough that it doesn't feel unfair most of the time when you die. That's one of the great things about Dark Souls as well as all the games in the series.
But a version of the game that is actually downright unfair? I just shudder to think of it.

I have to say though...
I HATE the Souls series.
The whole game is just run around, roll over, attack, REPEAT.
Got nothing against anyone who likes the series, but I just never found it entertaining.

Oh my goodness I think my heart rate went up, seeing all the black contrast with the vibrant colours!
Also, major kudos for referencing the Souls series. I tell you, you don't want distractions playing hard games, until you get to that stage where your brain shuts everything else off. I remember trying to beat F-Zero X and GX with such concentration I got sweaty palms and heart palpitations.
