It was quite the process of jumping through bureaucratic hoops.
I didnt want to jump the gun this time like I did with the whole parents acceptance thing (My mom has become quite religiously brainwashed but my dad still talks to me). So I waited for it to finally be put through before I commissioned this.
My facebook page got reported by a few assholes as being a fake name. I had the last straw with it and decided to move on and get it done legit and use those fools as a stepping stone to my eventual greatness. *Ahem* anyways. I had no where to start so a few awkward phone calls here and there found me the place that pointed me in the direction of a form. THEN this big buff scary retired marine (I shit you not he's built like Dwayne the rock Johnson) helped me out by pointing me to a place on base where I could get my fingerprints done. After filling out all the necesary paperwork I had to take it to a notary to sign. Luckily my bank has one and the lady told me that I was not her first customer to get a name change for this reason.
After I signed the documents in the presence of a notary, the notary then signed it and gave it to me. I then had to track down where to file it and prepare the filing fee. I ended up dishing out 260$ for the filing fee and had to wait for a court date where I would have to stand before a judge where he would approve or dissaprove of it (Which was the most nervous part of all)
While in court I had to watch another hearing and see a guy get sent away for 3 years. And then they called my name. I was about to go sit in the chair like...in those movies but they told me to just approach the judge. He asked me a few questions and legal jargain and in a mousey voice I said "Ok". To which he looked at me with an arched brow and asked "Seriously?" so I was a studdering mess because...there are OTHER PEOPLE IN THE ROOM. "Um...ugh no...*Whispers* I've never done this before". So I had to raise my right hand and in the process show everyone in the room my fabulous ruby red nail polish I had done the night prior and swore under oath that I was not being forced to change my name and I was not changing my name to escape any debt or contractual obligations.
After waiting for an answer on weather or not he would approve of it...he just signed the paper and slid it over to me and had the balif escort me to the proper department where I would find out where to go from there. I wanted to hug him...or the big balif but I refrained. I had a casual conversation with the Balif on the way there on how I was so damn nervous and it all seemed to be for no reason whatsoever cause that was so simple and easy.
Then began the hour long wait at the social security office, 3 hour wait at the DMV, short pleasant wait at the bank with the lady who was also my notary to get my name changed on my accounts, changing my name withthe company that I work for...etc etc etc...the only thing that has been a huge pain in the ass is Paypal...I sent them my drivers license and the entire court order name change and they kicked it back saying I did not send the appropriate documents which...states to include DL and Court Order name change.
Two big things happening or will happen. 1. I am able to use the womens restroom at work and its approved and I wont get any shit for it. and 2. I am getting ready for my first big surgery, my baby boo Kame said that he will come stay with me and take care of me while I am recovering so...we will be meeting each other for the first time in person! <3<3<3
So yeah lots of good stuff happening, sorry for not that many updates but my funds have been going into savings in preparation for surgery.
And THANK YOU SO MUCH to
Rabies_T_Lagomorph for this!

Oh you bet it makes me happy. When my facebook account got disabled and no matter what I did facebook would not re-enable it...I got seriously depressed. Not cause its face book but it just felt like they failed to acknowledge me. So now its like "Whut whut bitch?...its my REAL NAME" I am totally happy...and everyone at work is using my name and some of the ladies at work are giving me nicknames like "Rinny" or "Rin"
Was mainly thinking of the name change. The Facebook thing... yeah: FB is ran by people who's incompetence is difficult to put into words. My mother is afraid to write anything in some groups, because her account is automatically locked and she's forced to scan and send her identity card continuously to the admins. There's no excuse for their stupidity... it's sad we're constrained to use it because everyone else is, and can't move to a competent alternative.

Yeah my parents basically abandoned me after coming out. They don't even want me around my ADHD 33 year old brother. My mom was supporting me and then did a 180 last night. She sent me a really nasty message on FB. So I had to block her. She claimed to have been a hippy in the early 70s. I think she just jumped on a band wagon. So today has not been a good day. Happy that you got your name changed onyour driver's licence. My state won't even do that. I live in a redneck backwards religious nutball state. I hate it here. I need to move to California, Washington, or whatever liberal state that has non-discrimination laws.
I live in Texas and I know what you're talking about. My mom told me "Gender Dysphoria is just a word someone put on a singful lifestyle to make it sound ok" and also said "I am praying for god to deliver you from this dark path you are walking" I have put up with so much abuse from her over the years even before coming out so i just dont talk to her anymore...
My mom prays with the rosaries every night for me. Ugh. At least my brother still calls me. He lives with my parents so he calls me when they are asleep. It's been a rough month. My father cancelled a family trip to Disney because of his chest hurting which later they revealed it was due to my life choices. It just sucks so much. I feel like I was lied to my entire life about that they will always support me even if I came out gay. I've lost my entire family except for my bro. It does bother me that the LG in LGBT seems to have it easier than the T. I've seen documentaries where Gays and Lesbians even have discriminatory views of transgender women. Where is the unity?
woot! thats great for you hun
i'm definitely going to give you a ring on your email when i get to this point too
cause i'm so fucking scared of this process x3
though i'm not going to change my middle name...its my grandfather's name, and about the only thing i've got of him besides stories

I can't imagine what it was like to go through and I'm sorry to hear about your mom's lack of acceptance. :(
As for Facebook, that is kind of silly. You should be able to submit a document and be all "SEE! IT"S MY NAME!". I didn't even think that was a thing they'd go after you for since I know some people who change their names on Facebook to random stuff / silly nicknames.
The main thing is your happiness, and it seems like you are happy with the change. :>

Congrats, I have a friend that went through the same thing. I don't know where you're from, but just a tip, get your birth certificate changed reflect your name and gender if you can. In some areas state IDs will only go by what's on your birth certificate. She only found out after moving to Utah, and it took about 18 months, and a lot of paperwork being sent through the mail, getting denied because they claimed some paperwork was missing, before it turning out they screwed up and had it, charged her the wrong fee. She eventually got it corrected, so now her ID finally shows her correct gender and name.
In Texas they require you to get the surgery first before you can change your gender on your birth certificate. However I can kind of cheat the system by getting Orchiechtomy and getting a note from a doctor saying "I have had a irreversible surgery and suggest a gender change on the birth certificate" so yeah I have done my research ^_^
Hi there! Just found out thanks the the amazing Bunny Bun Bun Marbles. Congradulations on the Name change. As a Fellow Transgender, It might not seem like much to some but, having your legal name FINALLY match who you are, expecially when you look/sound like a woman but you have to continue using your masculine name... it is awkward as hell. I just hope to one day get the chance to start my transition and get to this point.
Aaaaaaanyway, Yeah, Way to go girl!
