Decided to play around with the contrast settings in GIMP and see if I could make the black be a real, smooth, even black as it was supposed to be, but my inking pens wouldn't give me. Not sure which version I like the best, so I will give you both and you can make up your own minds about it. :3

This is so cool! Corvid creatures can make fantastic fantasy creatures. :D Especially when you use skull faces on them.
Oh man, I love these long fingers coming out of the wings most. There's something eerie and mysterious about this guy, that it's hard to be certain whether it's a friend or foe.
This illustration looks like a part of an interesting story, it makes me curious to know more. ^^

Thank you for your comment! I'm a great lover of corvids, and I think my favourite corvid kind is the jackdaw. There is just something special in their ice blue, clear eyes that I can't help but be amazed by.
I had no story in mind for this when I started drawing it, and I'm not sure if I will ever write one. I am sure I will draw this jackdaw monster again, though, because I love it.
As for stories? Whether or not this was a sole jackdaw who strayed too far from its flock at dusk and found out what's lurking in the dark and why the flock always assemble for comfort in numbers at night; or it was a young jackdaw willing to make a deal to gain more power and influence; or it was an old and wise jackdaw seeking counsel with something even older and wiser than itself; or it was a young jackdaw having a nightmare; or it was...
I don't know, and I will leave it all up to you to figure out your own interpretation for what is going on between them. The story they tell in your head is as valid as the stories told between them in my own. Perhaps one day I will write one of them down.
Respectful regards
