A little song I composed in the shower this morning as I count down the days 'til FWA. I find the con-going experience both wonderful and overwhelming, and I think this captures the emotional complexity at least in some small degree.
Yes, my apologies if the lyrics aren't innately joyful, as I write from the heart and personal struggles sometimes hold me back from writing.
Although I don't have composing ability, the overall sound is deep and melodic and the pacing dictates a slight pause between most lines. The Interlude is a very shrill "Hoo-ou-ooo-u-u-u" not unlike the apex of fox's howl.
Anyway, a song's lyrics must really speak for thesmselves, if successful, so please enjoy and here's looking forwards to another wonderful con. :3
Two Weeks
Burn, burn, burn, burn,
Burn, burn, burn, burn,
the outside world.
Dance, dance, dance, dance,
dance, dance, dance,
within.
Search and find the space of mind that I once held,
Seeking for a garden still to tend.
Yet hold now,
I've stood long enough now,
Casting all the shadows,
Gazing at the sun 'til I can't see.
It still hurts and how,
my blood flows in spurts now,
Wearing all the shirts wow,
but can I still believe?
{Interlude.}
So call me saved and call me damned,
I have lost all that I've planned,
So in anger search the land,
'Til two weeks finds a friend again.
Dance, dance, dance, dance,
dance, dance, dance, dance,
away the hours.
Laugh, laugh, laugh, laugh,
laugh, laugh, laugh,
away the hurt.
Cast your nets and hedge your bets,
Those fish glint with bright scales,
In the waters far beyond this sullied earth.
So help me,
reach out a paw and touch me,
hold me fast and stroke me,
breathe life in my dead heart.
The vibrations,
Amidst hallucinations,
Of things held real in dreams,
Charge bittersweetest sparks!
{Interlude.}
So call me saved and call me damned.
I've wandered longer than I'd planned,
Staring out across yon fertile lands,
Praying I'd feel whole again.
Laugh, laugh, laugh, laugh,
laugh, laugh, laugh, laugh,
the night so sweet.
Run, run, run, run,
run, run, run,
throughout the day.
Lift me up in your embrace,
I'll stare upon your kind face,
Hoping against hope to match that smile.
Two weeks scattered now away,
And in this place all angels play,
And I beg Father Time to stay,
Until I'm older than the grave.
Yet death seems,
like a distant fever dream,
Which never compares to the things,
I'm seeing with open eyes!
{Interlude.}
So call me saved and call me damned,
redeemed myself longer than planned.
And all my hateful burning rage,
Is locked again inside its cage.
Sigh, sigh, sigh, sigh,
sigh, sigh, sigh, sigh,
remembering time.
Cry, cry, cry, cry,
cry, cry, cry,
PCD.
Fold up your luggage and your tail,
Our separate ships unfurl their sails.
Now wave goodbye with handkerchiefs,
Upon cold waters we must drift.
Until the day has reached its end,
When we all dance in dreams again.
I'll see your fur in my mind's eye,
Your paws caressing down my sides,
And I'll know it's good I have tried,
For in sweet dreams my hope still Lies.
{Interlude.}
So call me saved and call me damned,
I've fought longer than I had planned,
So lock away the pain my friends,
Until two weeks comes round again.
