Frequently they are, but they can be any number of colors, as it turns out!

My preferred choice is that there are no light side or dark side powers, it all depends on how you use them. D20 Star Wars screws you because even if you do honorable things with honorable intentions, if the outcome is bad you get a darkside point and if you get to many you turn evil and you roll a new character. Conversely you could do something marginally evil for evil intentions, but if you save the planet you're considered a hero with no penalty. Stupid no?
Hmm... blue saber = bright side
Fighting technique = Juyo
Juyo = Dark side
That's really confusing... ^.^
Juyo allows it's user to make powerful strikes, but they're not precise - too imprecise for a Jedi, to be exactly. Jedi don't chop, they cut if they have to violate others. They detach atms or hands and stuff but never try to kill someone if they don't have to - by using Juyo you can't control where your strike goes 'through'. ^.^°
So, I would say he's more of a Jedi that turned to the dark side. ^.^
Or at least has a penchant for the dark side, more than to the brigt side.

Actually a reverse grip style fighting can be rather precise with a lot of practice. Give the amount of training that's required just to use a lightsaber without killing one's self it's not that out of the question to say that a Jedi using a reverse grip would be more imprecise.
But a Jedi using this grip has to use more of his force to be precise enough for not chopping their enemies ^.^°
That's the only way of being as precise as if you would wield it as almost everyone does... without using so much force just to be able to aim precisely.
And I don't say you HAVE to be on the dark side, I said there are more Sith using this fighting technique than there are Jedi using it.
So it makes it a technique of the dark side, from a statistical side of view. ^.^

(I know that this comment is several months old, but...)
Actually, the fighting style that he uses is Ataru, for what it's worth. :) Though I didn't specify that when I commissioned the picture.
I've got a story, actually, on my FA page, about this little fella, if you want to check it out (since you seem pretty into the Star Wars thing).
