Lookit how smarmy she is!
I haven't drawn her anything serious in a while, and needed to do something for myself, I guess! this went...way more serious than I thought it would! Even got into experimental colouring, ahhhh
In fact, you can check out the step-by-steps here http://sta.sh/223th9dacm9y, tho note some of her markings got changed halfway through, and I forgot to save a few of the wip pieces before that? So they have new marking stuff? It's kinda weird..but amusing,t oo.
I loved the outfit MagnaStorm on DA drew for her so much I just HAD to do a piece. And watching KingfisherGryphon on DA made me just HAVE to draw fluff. AHH
UPDATE: Switched hue for shadows, texture used on brown section of jacket from fantasystock.deviantart.com

Ah-! Thank you for the kind comments! She really is a lovely dog, I've always wanted a character like her-
But, I do need to ask you not to describe her clothing as oriental, please! It's not only inaccurate (which obviously you wouldn't know - but she is, indeed, Russian), but the word 'oriental' itself is just fairly uncomfortable! It's, in this day and age, simply not a word to be used toward anything other than, well, rugs, really. :) Granted, this is mainly an North American view that 'Oriental' is a pejorative term - but, alas, I am American myself, and flinched quite a bit seeing it on your comment.
Thanks!
(It did make me do some reading, when I saw you're not from NA, to see if the word carries similar weight outside the States. Apparently, it's very, VERY bad in Australia, but mostly fine in the UK, though the younger crowds are moving away from it! http://dialectblog.com/2013/09/19/o.....f-a-semi-slur/ This was a good read!)

To tell you the truth i was using the term more akin to when art historians refer to "Orientalism" as the depictions that often appear in late British romanticism and the french academy of early 20th century. It is not completely harmless either, the representations were often exotic in nature to the point that a lot of artists never really traveled to any of these countries, and there was a pervasive patronizing attitude in the term. Still the term stuck with these art movements to the point you can still read the term in a lot art history books!
Imagine my surprise hearing that it's actually pejorative! Well i guess i learned something useful today and for that i thank you!

You might appreciate this blog! http://medievalpoc.tumblr.com/ They've done a few pieces on the Orientalism in art, and have lots of other pretty great info. Figure it's probably right in your interests!
Oh i actually know this blog! They have a lot of interesting and sometimes rare content. Thanks for putting it in my radar once more. I'm actually very interested in painting no matter the era, even the weird modern variety. so having resources like this one at hand is very convenient!
