After a bit, Tiru’s ear flickered. “Tiru! Come here girl!” Anna called. The Riolu wasted no time hopping off Yuki’s lap.
“I’ll see you later.” Tiru told the fox with giving a wave as she ran off to see what Anna wanted. They were going to start their journey today. Sure, she was scared, but seeing the world through the eyes of a Pokemon would be interesting.
Anna smiled as Tiru ran up to her, picking her up. “We are gonna start our training today. I’m so excited! I also looked up a good diet for you just now. Apparently meat and fish are really good for you. Helps you build muscle. We’ll get you a fish before we leave town.” The girl said petting her Pokemon as she got ready. She had packed a majority of the clothing and items she’d need for this trip. Her mother recommended she only take the essentials. She had four sets of clothing. Three casual and one formal. She also had two Pokeballs, three potions, an antidote, and a Pokedex her mother once used. It was old but she would get a better one during her trip.
After a short snack Anna picked Tiru up and ran over to Dillan’s. He was sitting on a bench outside his house waiting for Anna. “I’m glad to see you packed lightly. Ready to go?” He asked. He was wearing cargo pants with a collared shirt today. He only had a bag at his side and nothing more. It didn’t seem very full.
“Yea my parents said it’s best to pack light. So where are we going?” Anna asked. She actually had no clue where to go or how to start. Her parents had given her a nice bit of cash for her journey.
“Azalea town is our first target. The area around it is extremely diverse. It’s great for trainer battles. It’s also hosting a Contest next week. We should get there on foot in 3 days.” Dillan said locking up his home.
“3 days? That sounds like a whole lot of walking.” Anna said thinking she might need better shoes.
At least Anna could wear shoes. Tiru just realized she would be walking with Anna through Arceus knows what with just her paws. She knew her body was built for it but that didn’t make her feel any better. She followed Anna and Dillan as that started making their way to the south entrance of the city. It looked so big being so small now. It was a perfect day out. The conversation Anna and Dillan were having bored her as she just enjoyed the weather. “It’s a lovely day isn’t it?” Yuki asked as she started walking next to Tiru.
“it is….” The Riolu replied. She noticed the Braixen was also going with just her paws. “Hey is this trip gonna be hard on our paws?” She asked. Her paws kinda hurt already due to the hot concrete they were walking on. She walked on the grass when she could as that felt much better.
“Well. Bring a fire type I don’t mind the hot hard surfaces most Pokemon complain about. But as we travel you’ll get used to it. Your paw pads will probably be tougher after this journey.” Yuki commented thinking about her experience with it.
Tiru was a little relieved. “That’s good to hear. Anything else I should know?” She questioned as the south city exit came into view. The view was gorgeous. You could see the grassland roll on for miles with the ocean slamming against small cliffs and a few beaches here and there. The wild blew waves in the tall grassy lands and many Pokemon could be seen. Flying Pokemon, namely Wingulls, were riding the ocean breeze looking for a good snack. A few herds of Touros were walking about
munching on the grass. One could smell the ocean as the cool breezes made Tiru’s fur move around. Her fur made her warm but the breeze cooled her off nicely. She couldn’t help enjoying the weather here. How did she not realize how nice the outskirts of Goldenrod City were? She had been here before as a trainer. But something about this place made her almost cry at the beauty. She’d never seen it like this before.
Yuki interrupted Tiru’s happy moment. “Hey are you okay?” She asked noticing the Riolu had stopped to enjoy the breeze.
“Huh? Oh sorry. Just reminiscing about things. This place is beautiful.” Tiru commented as she ran to catch up with Anna. When she made it to her trainer she realized they were talking to someone.
“I know you’re a trainer. Battle me!” A boy said. He was dressed like your classic trainer was dressed. Normally kids like him tried too hard.
“Fine. But you may only use one Pokemon.” Anna said not wanting to push Tiru to hard. It was at that point Tiru grew nervous. She was barely trained. And now she was already going to battle a trainer. This wasn’t looking good for her.
“Agreed.” The trainer said as Anna and him found a nice open spot to battle. “Let’s go, Charmander!” The trainer called releasing his Pokemon. The fire type blew a small ember from his nose when he was released. He was ready to go.
“Okay Tiru. Let’s give it our all.” Anna cheered, smiling as the Riolu got in front of her.
“Ladies first. Go ahead and have the first move.” The trainer said.
Anna had used her mother’s Pokedex to find out the moves Tiru could use earlier. “Tiru let’s not use our strongest move first. Use force palm!” She said pointing at the Charmander.
Something in Tiru made her take a battle stance. It was like instinct, but not quite. She knew she had to be fast. She dashed at the Charmander watching him closely.
“Ember!” The trainer called. The Charmander was fast with his fire and shot the little pellets of fire right at Tiru.
Tiru wouldn’t be hit so easily though. She barely managed to dodge the fire. Her training yesterday helping her out as she reached the Charmander. Her paw started to glow blue as she smacked his head. Her aura exploding on his head. The fire lizard yelped in pain as he was pushed back by the move. “You have momentum! Tackle him!” Anna called out.
“Charmander use Dragonrage!” The trainer called a little bit worried. But although the force palm hurt the Charmander was a lot tougher than Tiru. He had training and had seen more battles than Tiru. He fired blue flames as Tiru. Being so close she couldn’t avoid this one and was covered in the hot flames. Fortunately, Pokemon fur was resilient stuff considering it didn't burn off. That didn’t mean it didn’t hurt though. Tiru cried in pain as she backed off. Being so young she wasn’t ready for a hit like that. It took a lot out of her.
“Hah! You call that a Pokemon. She’s so weak I bet a tackle would finish this. Tackle her, Charmander!” The Charmander was faster than Tiru.
Anna grit her teeth. Tiru might lose if she didn't think of something fast. Then she remembered a move she originally thought would be useless. Here it might just get her a victory. "Tiru I know it’ll hurt! But withstand it! Use counter!” Anna called hoping for the best.
Those words made Tiru cringe a bit. She was already in pain, and now she had to take this hit. She braced herself for impact. The Charmander slammed into her hard. She yelped, as it hurt a lot, but she had to do this for Anna. She barely held on; the Charmander completely open to her attack, she jumped up and slammed her strong leg down on him. She hit his head hard. The same spot she had hit with her force palm. This was too much for the Charmander and he fell to the ground unable to continue. Tiru fell on her rump panting. Did she really just beat him?
“I must say you did good. Charmander return!” The trainer said returning his Pokemon. He gave Anna a bit of cash and walked into Goldenrod.
Anna was filled with happiness. “Tiru you won your first real battle!” She said excitedly, hugging the little Riolu. Tiru was in pain but she managed a smile.
“There a Pokemon Daycare nearby. We can get Tiru healed up there.” Dillan said knowing Tiru would need some attention.
“Oh right. Okay let’s hurry!” Anna said as her and Dillan made their way to the daycare center.
I'm gonna try getting these out faster! At least once every other Friday. Anyway hope you enjoy it! Also wanna see your pokemon in this story? Look at my journals and you'll get a chance!
