Please... Do buy a gun, though. And almost more importantly, but lots of ammo for it. You are right, times are getting scary. In an emergency, when stores are closed, ammo is the only currency that will matter. Ammo and food, and water. Keep the gun locked away if you wish, and the ammo. One day you will need it, and need it bad... You will be so glad you have it.

Also thank God I live in AZ now, I used to live in CA. AZ is a constitutional carry state, meaning you do not need a permit of any kind to carry a gun. You just carry it. Concealed, or open, although I preferred concealed. Also, open carry used to be legal in CA, but they shot that law down, sadly. It is possible to get a permit to carry concealed, I know two people who have it, both of my brothers, so it is certainly do-able. I recommend trying to get your permit. You don;t even have to carry if you have it, but I recommend you do. :)

On the con side it's such a hazzle to get your own gun and "just go on the range". I had my own .22 gun before i joined the military (as a machine gunner), but afterwards, it just wasn't that much fun to shoot anymore. Just didn't kick enough, and didn'T sound satisfying. Since i moved after the army, i would have needed to go shooting .22s for several years and fill a ton of paperwork before being allowed bigger calibres, so i just never bothered.

On the pro side, having such a tight gun control means you never see people packing on the street. It does somehow feel safer. There are a lot of idiots that would but really shouldn't carry. I've been in Uganda for a while, and everyone and their grandmothers carried AK47s and other rifles. There were armed guards in EVERY LITTLE super market. Makes you kind of feel wierd. Especially if you, as a foreigner, are not allowed to have guns.

Maybe i'll visit the US some day, and see how it feels to everyday-carry in civil life. Would be an interesting experience.

True, we have many refugees. A friend of mine is working with the police, and we checked the criome statistics - the crime rates stayed constant (constant as in "they would be the same if we added 2m Germans"). Also, i personally feel the refugees are mostly very nice people, fleeing from war and being ashamed what their brethren have done in the name of their peaceful god.

But people are still afraid. And people who are afraid, they make mistakes. And all this might still boil up to some dangerous situations. Also, in the last years, i actually get the feeling the european union was falling apart. And with that in mind, i think having a firearm would be a nice addition for that hopefully-never-to-come day when there might actually be civil unrest or even war. You never know, right?

Yes, people are afraid... When they passed the law here in Arizona about Constitutional carry, many people decried it, saying there would be blood in the streets because now anyone can just carry a gun (If you're not a felon). Turns out they were wrong... Crime has gone down- way down. When the people are left to regulate themselves in a peaceful, civil country, things tend to get better, and even safer...

For accuracy actually, the longer the barrel the more chance the pressure behind it can push the bullet out, the more power, and velocity and accuracy it has, it is not always true but usually it is true. Also it has to be longer because a muzzle attachment needs threads that stick out past the slide, it is longer for that reason, too.

but velocity on close distance make no difference my 9x21 arex is accurate as a 6 inch revolver , for the threads i can understeand it but make it shorter is better for carry <3
