I think that element of hunger that comes from being a symbiote and that being a somewhat inherently organic life form's problem is what appeals to me vs being nanites :V
Though nanites are cool and I do have a scrapped backstory concept for Garrus where he hates the idea that he's now existing as a collective of nanites as if it's something annoying that he's now made of tiny machines where he "exists" equally in each one so unless he's totally destroyed. He's just gonna come back again completely normal :V
