"Oh hell, here he comes! Smile! Maybe he won't notice!"
Playing with setups, this is in DAZ 4.9 but this time in IRay, took several hours ...
Only thing new here is the SulacoHanger hangar and mech.

The craft behind them doesn't seem to be properly seated on its landing legs ... thus the oops.
Heh, and I looked at Blender and worried about the learning curve!
The nice thing is the program itself is free - as is a lot of models on other sites.
About as hard as moving dolls around in a dollhouse (which makes it almost simple enough for my simple mind!
)

iRay does make things look different... some of the shaders will have to be tweaked / replaced between 3Delight and iRay.
I take it from the render time that you don't have an Nvidia graphics card? A decent graphics card really speeds up iRay.
Nice hangar setting, Nightsky's texture is looking good.

Have, but either not the type DAZ likes or some setting isn't right because it aborts the render when I try them ...

SLI allows two video cards to act as one, there's a special cable connecting the two cards together, and an option in the driver to use SLI to link them.
Your GT 430 cards have 4GB each? That's odd, they usually have 1GB. It may be sharing with the system RAM, though.
iRay will still be slow on that configuration, but it should take an hour instead of multiple hours to render.

Got them from Fry's, they had several 430s to choose from ...
Total available graphics memory: 4095MB
Dedicated video memory: 2048 MB DDR3
System video memory: 0MB
Shared system memory: 2047 MB
Current render at 20% after 56 minutes ... (and I know the 3Delight takes longer going from 75% to done than it does from start to 75% ...)
I'll 'play' with it some more.

The same scene as this one, texture compression at 512/1024 as of 'now' still a little snowy at 65% on iteration 3226 at 6 hours 52 minutes ...
There must be a magic setting I'm missing somewhere, because it seemed faster CPU only (AMD 3G and 16GB ram)
Oops, I did make one 'little' change that might be a 'big' part of it - I set the bent Stinger to 'shiny' so we have a lot more reflecting going on.
Thanks for the help, but it looks like I need to wait and upgrade the beast if I'm going to do too much of this.

Those GT 430 cards only have 96 cores each, the GTX 470 for example has 448.
The 430 doesn't support SLI, that's why you wouldn't see the option in the driver. :)
If you can find some 670 cards used, those would work well, and might be less expensive than current or previous generation high end cards (if your power supply has the connectors to support them, otherwise you'll have to upgrade the power supply too).
With your setup, you should enable the CPU and GPUs, it might speed things up enough to make a different using iRay. Or stick to 3Delight for now.

Got the latest drivers, it still closed before rendering the first iteration. Turned the texture compression to 256/512 and at least it didn't just die, still quite slow, I'll play with it more in the morning.
(and even with the CPU unchecked, all four cores are pegged out while rendering ...)
