Albedo Erma Felna EDF page 30
First page of issue three, the first real publish-y issue, like using a real commercial printer and all that. The first two issues were printed by a friend with after hours press access. This one was also the first issue done in larger numbers, reflecting some real sales. The first two had gone out in at-convention sales and small lots to Bud Plant and such. Issue three was getting more attention. Still only ten thousand printed, but that was big numbers back in the day.

Issue 8 was the most printed issue, maybe 16 K, though the exact number is iffy, as there was a lot of wastage due to bad handling at the bindery that messed up a lot of covers. It was also the peak of the black&white boom to bust, as perhaps as many as half of what was initially ordered ever got shipped or paid for. Stores and small distributors were dropping like flies and even those that remained were cash-short for new orders. Bad times.
this is the issue that i first saw in 1984 when I moved from Olympia to Oregon. for me, this started the formally Furry mindset.
THis is what I wanted in comics. This is what I liked. and now? there is a Zootopia movie that pretty much is what is portrayed here in a non military setting.
And of course, Deal Witley's High Orbit was both smart and funny at the same time. his joke of a space traffic controller guiding a pilot into a docking bay (who is also her husband) was pretty funny. I could see it happening.
just one one of the things in my memories hoard...

That would explain why is so difficult to find older issues of Albedo overseas. For the record, the only issues I bought here in Mexico were the ones from the second arc (except the second one, the last one published by Antarctic Press) and the first one of the "Old Erma" distant finale, while the remaining ones I bought them later via Ebay from the U.S.
As far I know, I only know one people here in Mexico besides me who also collects the comics and he is also a furry comic book artist as well. I also aware some issues were for sale in France and Spain, and there's even a small news article about Albedo in Spanish from a Spaniard news site.

That was the first issue I bought, I had missed out on the first two issues, I saw the green cover with a critter in front of a tactical screen, picked up the book, and the first panel of the first page had me hooked! I got every issue after that, and two of the three versions of the Albedo rpg.
