As in title :) My second attempt in 'real' music making ;) This time more in disco (?) style. Very old. (Ten years? More? I don't remember...) Made with one of trackers.
Jak w tytule. Moja druga próba 'prawdziwego' robienia muzyki. Tym razem takie bardziej disco (?). Bardzo stare - raczej. (Około 10 lat a może więcej? Nie pamiętam...) Zrobione w jednym z trakerów.

Lolz, Disco. ^-^
It may be over a decade old, but this Little melody definatly has much more potential than what meets the eye.
But, the rhythm track brings the quality down, and could defiantly use an edit.
Actually, with a few adjustments, this could be a pretty stylish "Techno" Song.
...maybe you could do another mix of this and launch the song into this decade!! ^-^

Two words: Pachelbel's Canon
Hey, you're using Impulse Tracker? I used it a bit too once, though I preferred Fast Tracker 2. Nostalgia!
One thing you can do way better with midi is instrument performances, but you can make the track come alive already in IT with using the volume column more. If you put full volume on the beats that you want emphasized and lower the volume on the notes that are not on these beats, you get more punch and more aliveness. Especially piano and bass in this song will benefit from it!

Pachelbel's Canon? Yes, it's possible, You are not a first person who tells me that although when I was making it I was sure I'm create something completely new...
Thank You a lot for Your opinion
It was made in ModPlug Tracker (the old one), the first tracker I ever knew. I found it long time ago in a CD attached to magazine about games, in 'scene' directory. It was real magic, when I started the program and some files with strange names ending with .mod , .xm and .it became readable... Tracker went to my head and I decided to make something 'for any cost' and this is (one of) a result(s), as I can remember, my second "masterpiece" Earlier I was only listening what others made in trackers. I did it using not my own computer, my own I have not so long.
I think You are right about dynamics ('local sound strength') issue, I tried recently create a track that way, but I don't know what principles I should use, for example, which of notes in piano section I should 'play' more 'gently' - my attempts look strange (except drums, these are easier for me and I think are quite good)
Anyway #1 I would like make good classical tune, but I'm afraid it is too difficult for someone with my level of music experience. It is strongly required to treat every note that way You said, moreover first it needs a good idea what I want to 'say' with my music, and even if nice 'theme' comes to my head I can easily 'destroy' it in progress of subsequent works on it. Whole thing becomes like something difficult to listen and not giving positive impression to listener. I don't know how to change it...
Anyway #2 I think Fast Tracker is really more interesting. I have it on my computer, unfortunately it doesn't work as it should even with DosBox. Too modern operating system? Recently I use simple, tracker-like VST host.

I would recommend not using a tracker for classical-style music.
I love trackers for their quick work flow, but they are quite limited when it comes to non-exact note positioning, and with classical music, you don't want all notes to hit with computer precision. You want a human sound with human imperfection. So you'll actually be working against the work flow of the tracker, trying to artificially introduce imperfection.
For dance and techno, trackers rule!
And yes, ModPlug is probably the tracker choice of the last ten years or so. I used it for the conversion of my old modules to MP3.
