It's more like a reptile stereotype because talking lizards put up with it too. I admit it does make them sexy when they speak, but perhaps it's overused and too typical. XD

Yeah, species stereotypes are all over the place. I bet people expect Gargan and Blackguard to use a protracted "r", as well.

Blackguard - Yeah, they think just because Scooby-Doo and Astro the Dog did it, all dogs pronounces R's at the beginning of their words.

Yeah. Two famous dogs happen to have a speech impediment, and all of a sudden all us canines are expected to have it. Scooby was the only one out of his entire family to talk like that -- from Scooby Dum to Yabba Doo, everyone else could pronounce the initial sounds of the words.
