Forgive the scanner. It tried its best
Became convinced last week to start picking up traditional media. I've wanted to for years, but haven't been brave enough to just go and tackle it.
Followed a tutorial while I painted this, and I think it turned out rather well!
My only problem was stippling for leaves and dry-brushing in the grass. the trees on the close land just beyond the water gave me significant troubles, and I wasted a good bit of paint painting and re-painting them. Same goes for the bush left of the tree. It was intended to be further back and have some better shape to it, which is why the tree has light on its left side, where in the image it should be shadowed by the bush I made.
Critiques openly welcome! If anybody has tips for traditional painting or texturing or brush handling, I'd love to hear them!

"Bob Ross" was the first thing that came into my mind after seeing this xD
I really enjoy this painting! Great work!
As for critique (I don't do art, but from a standpoint of a viewer): The stroke of bright green on top of the forest beyond the river seems a bit over the top, but you already said you had problems with that part... soooo.

If you want to talk to someone about traditional media,
ryngsraccoon is the best traditional media artist I know. Be warned: if you start a conversation with him, he can and will go on for hours.
