I regret to share this news with you. This evening, around 6pm, we made the decision to put my Finnish Spitz, Melody, down after finding out she suffered a major stroke last Friday. Tonight was the first opportunity we had to get her in to see her regular veterinarian who knows her history and has helped us through the trials we've all endured with Mel this last year.
She went barking into the next life, as is only right for my little barking bird dog of Finland.
This is one of the best pictures I have of my little girl and it's the one I prefer to remember her by, so I share it with those who knew her, and those she never had the chance to touch. Feel free to keep it for yourselves.
Thank you all for your support and condolences.

I hope and pray the best for ya, Swifty. I know so many that say an animal is just that. But we know that no matter what, once you've spent so much time with them, they become truly family. I'm sure you're comforted in the fact that all your time with her were the best. *gives you a big hug*
Oh no not Mel mel.....*sniffles and hugs you all so tight*....She was so full of life and happiness of joys. I am so going to miss her fluffy yipping self. I'm so sorry for the loss. It was so shocking to see this post. But yeah I could so see her yipping into doggy heaven.
There really isn't much I can say to help you guys with your loss, but if you need a shoulder to cry on or an ear to listen to you are always welcome at our house. I hope the best for you two, and at least Mel went to the next life without having to suffer further. I know it doesn't really help the heart much though.
Swift, I'm sorry. I just want you to know I have great memories of Mel and even Candy as well. I have a couple pics of them both on my Treo here, was just looking at them. She had great owners in you and Sil, and I know very well from seeing her reacting to you in particular, how well she knew just that.
Personally, thank you to both you and Sil for being such good friends now for so many years, and if there is anything I can do for either of you, please let me know what. Thoughts are with you my friend.

Wow. My parent's Finnish Spitz just turned 13 recently. We got her after our first F.S., Max, developed cataracts at age 3 and went totally blind a few years after we got him (1992). My condolences to you, and know she'll be peeking over the edge of the clouds, her curly-tail wagging as she barks for you.
