Twilight Sparkle heard about Dash challenging an outsider to an exhibition match, on her way to stop it she notices that the outside was chatting to a stallion in armor. The Stallion had a strange magic tome with him. This intrigued Twilight as she never seen a book like this before, going up to the stranger, she asks him what is that tome he has.

The stallion tells Twilight it is impolite to step up to someone else during a conversation, Twilight apologizes and explains that his friend, Takumi, is going to get in a fight with Rainbow Dash.

The stranger is aware of this and mainly faults Dash for her abrasive way of thinking. He introduces himself as Leon and puts the tome away. Twilight feverishly asks what is that book he has and Leon tells that it is an ancient spell book Brynhildr.

Twilight, now eager to look at the depths of the book, wants to take a look inside. Leon refuses, saying that this book is bound to him like how the element of magic is bound to her.

Twilight doesn't back down and tells Leon that a spell book doesn't have as much use to an earth pony because they can't cast spells. Leon let's out a hearty chuckle and tells Twilight he is no 'ordinary earth pony'. He proceeds by channeling magic through the book and into his body, ready to prove Twilight wrong.

Twilight, although would refuse the challenge, felt an unknown burning desire to prove her wits in the field of magic Something about Leon stirred a 'fiery feeling' in her body, as if she was eager to see his might.
