This is our newest group of fosters. They came to us yesterday with their mama - all ten of them. We are fortunate to have a very large walk-in shower that works very well as a nursery. I also have a mop and bucket that is used very frequently.

If you can; I encourage you to volunteer at the Humane Society. If you can't foster, but can spare a few hours per week, there are many dogs there in need of a simple pat on the head and a hug. That's what my daughter did way back in High School and so got us started in doing this.

I have been asked if it is hard to foster when it comes time to take them back... ask the five permanent residents here at the house. Yes... it is very difficult when it comes to the mothers because you can't help but fall in love. They have had such a hard life and the hope and love you give them is so hard to be torn from. The puppies are easier because you know they will be adopted quickly.

Gloria and I have recently been nominated for some sort of award by the HS. I am proud of this, but it's not the reason we do what we do. To help the poor creatures that cannot help themselves is reward enough all by itself.

(and another reason my time is so very limited - come on retirement!)

The world needs more love. This is just a small way of spreading that around a little bit. No better emissary of love than a forever friend in the form of a battle worn older dog in need of a home.
