At last, after nearly 2 years in the fandom, I finally have THE POWER OF SCANNAGE!!!
Lol!
Canon CanoScan LiDE 200, for anyone who is interested. The more knowledgable among you will have to break the bad news to me if I've spent £60 on a pile of crap, but on first testing, it seems to do everything I will want it to.
It is unfortunate however that this will probably be one of the most roughly treated scanners ever to make it off a production line. It'll spend most of its life hidden inside a carrier bag stashed away in a cupboard, and will only be brought out when there's no-one around and I need to use it, only to be clumsily bundled back in when I've finished. So if I ever post a journal saying "scanner's fucked" or "went to the hospital today to get a load of glass picked out of my hands", you'll all know why.

First Canon product I've bought, actually. Both printers I've had have been HPs.
Funnily enough my dad had said about a year ago that he was thinking of getting one of those weird combo printer thingies which, if he had done, would've granted me the use of his old scanner. Sadly, it never happened.
Not that it matters now. Heh!

While the novelty is there, I dare say it will. If nothing else though, I'm hoping over the long term that it'll remove the really awkward stage of trying to get my pencil-and-paper art into a state ready for digital colouring. The tablet could have achieved that, but it demands too much of a change in my method of drawing for my liking. I still plan on using the tablet for animating though.
Sadly I would still not expect me to produce too much art for the next few weeks. Uni work is really piling on the pressure lately and even if I do get the motivation, the freedom and you-know-what, I dare say I just won't get the time.
But we'll see anyway.
