Bio: Born in an Atlantean colony set up off the coast of Maine, Amaya grew up in a poor but tight-nit community of Shark Atlanteans eking out a life hidden from the prying eyes of the human fisherman who plied their waters. Amaya's curiosity about the world above eventually brought her into contact with a young, lonely human male named James. Saddened by his parents marital problems and the isolation he felt after having moved from California to Portland, he was instantly drawn to the friendly and fun-loving shark girl from beneath the sea, eventually leading to a secret romance that continues to this day.

Introducing the Atlanteans! A race of aquatic beings from a great city beneath the sea, the Atlanteans once boasted a grand civilization. Sadly, a horrible disaster known as the "Great Sundering" destroyed their city, ruined their civilization and sent the survivors scattering across the seven seas, eventually settling in isolated colonies where they struggled to preserved their culture. This brought them into contact with humanity, for both good and ill. Most Atlanteans keep their existence secret, though some live in relative peace with humans, occaisionally coming up from the sea to trade for goods... and sometimes, to seek companions.
