Finished! This is a commission for the awesome chisohma (on deviantArt)! It's her and her RP partner's dragons, Aurelia (the gold dragon) and Kusonga Dunia (the brown dragon).
In Chisohma's RP, both Aurelia and Dunia were captured by an evil overlord who stole their dragonic powers. Dunia was able to break free first, and then fought to release Aurelia as well. This picture shows them after they finally escape and regain their powers.
The picture was originally going to have a simple BG, but I decided to spice it up a bit since it took me so long to finish this. (Sorry, Chisohma! D8) Chi wasn't sure where they would reunite, so I placed them in a mountainous region since that would be a damn good hiding place for a dragon. (Seriously, a dragon can fly over a mountain much, much faster than it takes a human to climb one.)
Also, this was definitely a challenge when it came to the dragon's textures. I've had trouble with smooth, snake-like scales in the past *cough* http://www.furaffinity.net/view/10790649/ *cough* so this was the perfect excuse to kick my own butt and really *paint* some scales for once, gosh. It took forever to finish all those little details, but the end result is totally worth it. I feel like I've really leveled up when it comes to shiny scale-work.
I also had trouble with Dunia since he's supposed to be a seasonal tree dragon (his skin is bark, and his wings are branches that sprout leaves based on the season). It was a unique challenge for sure, but I think I pulled it off fairly well. Chi originally wanted him to be between Autumn and Winter but, after trying to incorporate winter into the picture with little success, I decided to just make it an autumn picture. Autumn is my fave. season, so no complaints here! ^^
Special thanks to wolf-nymph , goldendruid , and tatiilange for helping me out and encouraging me when I got stuck on this. :)

Beautiful art piece. I mean the first time I saw it, I was stunned. The whole style and appreance you have of the painting remind me of Romanticism paintings. It's absolutely gorgeous. I even the love the dragon on the left. How his wings seem to be actually like tree branches with so many leaves, all to compose the wings. Very imaginative. I really love this painting.
