o.O Nambroth has a major-league arm, it seems. She should consider a career in the MLB, you know, if they let girl dragons play baseball. :P ...sorry that just popped into my head when I saw the incredible detail on the particles from the path of the snowball and noticed there's barely any arc on that throw. The Yankees should give her a $200 million contract or something.
Seriously, though, this picture is quite awesome! (All your others are too but I'm sure you don't want me to flood your inbox with like forty comments in one night so I'll just leave this one.FOR NOW.)

I hope you dont mind a technical question....
what is the canvas size you aer working with on these images typically?
... and how many layers do you tend to work with?
alas I am a novice ...learning.. but a total novice, so I tend to curious about about other artists methods.
I just keep shaking my head and smiling at the work you do.

I try to work at a minimum of 2400x3000 pixels. Around 5000 is nice but my machine tends to get laggy when I have a lot of layers at that size. The number of layers can be anywhere between five and thirty, generally. I try to merge the layers together whenever I can because, again, my machine gets pretty slow. I like working with as few layers as I can get away with.
thank you very very much for the reply.
For the first time a few weeks ago I used a canvas size that was on the order of 3000x3000 and indeed ... it was amazing how it improved the look of the finished, reduced size piece. and yeah, i did all the background in layers, merged it.... then the character.. merged it... and then the foreground elements.. and that seemed to help with keeping the file size and machine speed 'okay'
But I am using an older mac for this, and its no longer the power house it used to be thought of.
Anyway, once again thanks.. I look forward to much more dragon-goodness from you!

Thank you for the kind words. I am glad you like it.
I am doing very well! I moved, got a new job and more work than I've had in ages, many people over for a visit, and barely any time for myself. I am busy and tired, but I am doing very well and I am happy. Thanks for checking up on me. That was very nice of you.
Haha, I have been more or less away from the internet for a long time, but I see you just posted this comment! What timing!

Hehehe, well .. I guess you may not get this reply yet for some time then... but I wanted to reply. :)
Wow, lots of changes then. Its good though to hear it brings with it happiness!
Usually such moving about comes with few pleasantries. But its awesome to hear things are looking up. I hope that you soon find some time to relax!
Hhehe... and yes indeed, at the expense of sounding a bit "fan-ish" I love your work :)
As a total novice trying to learn, its been an inspiration. ^.^
