Sapphire is the leader of the Jewel Vixens team, and (in the story) is an established professional model of international renown. However, to her teammates she's constantly a mystery, since it's notoriously hard to get her to speak about her history or family.

This image is one small, but valuable piece of information, one of the last known photos of Sapphire with her father, Shale, who was presumably kidnapped and whose fate is unknown. Part of her rationale for working with the Jewel Vixens to begin with is to somehow find him, but it's almost as though he doesn't want to be found... at least, not yet.
