Something Different - Pearl
It's not something that most people would know, but when I was in college I actually did a lot of abstract design. It wasn't so much by choice but by prompting - I never felt a very strong connection to it. Many of my professors considered it to be the crowning glory of art, modern - anything else, especially classical illustration, was commercial and archaic.
It's been a long time since I worked abstracted - but Mbala's parents love the style, so I tried to bring some of that to the forefront and created this pendant for his mother for the holidays.
Just a little something different I wanted to share - I know it's not furry art and I don't show off much out of the 'animal' genre here, but I did end up liking this one, so here it is!
1"x2", glass and watercolor.

Whether you "feel" the style or not, you're certainly able to work in it! I like this - and it might be my imagination, but I think your natural art still shows through in it. Even in abstraction, something it still seems to be very...of nature. Sorry I can't think how to phrase that better, but it's late for me and I'm running out of words. >.<
I love this! I do love abstract art, and as much as I love and buy, well, art and jewelry and other "things that look like things", when I buy things to wear or hang up, I often go for more abstract things myself! Things that are symbolic, or evocative, or just a pleasing combination of shapes and colors (and your piece is all three :D) This is gorgeous. Thank you for sharing!
A most wonderful pendant indeed.
Reminds me of a pendant I once saw in a magazine on high architecture and interior design at Barns and Noble Bookstore here at the mall at Augusta Ga.
Do you find advertisement of your pendants in such magazines? How much are they?
The one I saw in the magazine I fore mentioned cost about $350.00, but I find yours to be a bit better looking, (it is a opinion) and that is saying something considering the company that makes the other pendant caters to the wealthy clientele.

Thank you for your kind words! I don't currently advertise in any magazines, the ads there are prohibitively expensive for me. I would like to try it out but it's hard to take the leap with so much money on the line for a trial. I might eventually move into that direction if I can find a break in. :)
