My second attempt at scratchboard art. This one 8"x10" and the original was sold at the FC '09 art show.

Barn owls are stupid but I love them.

They are so graceful. We have two at the zoo who fly in our show. Amazing creatures. A bit stubborn at times, but more docile then many of the other raptors we train. Rufous and Barking Owls also tend to be very docile birds of prey.

The level of detail in this shading incredible. It almost shames me to say this, but from the thumbnail I was convinced that it was a black and white photograph.

you are amazing me! you take so much time to put in all of that detail! i'd say you are one patient person. what is scratch board please let me know when you have the time. and again this is just absolutely amazing.

Scratchboard is heavy paper or masonite coated with a layer of white clay, coated with another layer of black ink. You use a sharp implement to scratch through the black ink to reveal the white clay underneath.
