I can totally see Gideon being gay as the reason for him being so aggressive, maybe along with some toxic masculinity from his parents/dad that real men gotta be tough, not nancy-boys. I'd totally go along with Gay Gideon even though I think he'd actually make a good father because he knows how rough life as a child can be.

She's a child. She's too young to know about sex or the underhanded ways adults talk about it. She just thinks they are talking about liking Gideon and food, not Euphemisms for sex. So she is actually saying what she means. She likes Gideon enough that she really wouldn't kick him out of bed for getting scratchy crumbs in the covers.
