I was reminiscing my season in 2015 and found this picture. This is actually of a boy from my team (Peckham Bmx) crashing when going for an overtake (Both were not harmed and only had small scrapes), this made me remember what a dangerous sport this is. We have our falls and we try to pick ourselves back up again but this made me remember a close friend of mine who was paralysed from the waist down after suffering a horrific crash during a race last season which had called for this new season to scrap the track from the calendar. He is so brave and now takes up Wheelchair basketball as a new sport, he is the constant reminder for me how much people can go through but still have the motivation to succeed. Thankfully incidents like these are extremely rare which is thanks to the efforts from different companies like Troy Lee Designs who are always looking for new safety improvements with their equipment. I have a metal plate holding the bottom of my jaw due to a crash back in 2014 but now with the introduction of new safety requirements for each track I have not had such a big crash since. So finally, whatever happens, never lose motivation or hope. Never give up and keep pushing forwards. Lets have a safe and fun season this year and using the Peckham Bmx motto: ONE WAY UP!!!
