Do you remember the time when you created your first RPG characters? Where every lorebreaking unholy idea sounded like something neat and original? I do remember My first really long term campaign character. Three years of playing that guy, Beodren Bloodhoof, bastard son of Baine.
Long story involving mixed heritage, being spirited away and raised by a paladin all because of very traditional society seems like a very smart if very poorly executed idea. But hey, 15 years old me had potential!
So Beodren is a paladin, and yes, he is a tauren. He never considered himself member of the horde, he was raised by another paladin, man who took him away when his mother was on her deathbed after being exiled. Righteous, honor bound, and one of funniest traits: He never lied. I swore to GM my character would never tell a lie and results were amusing. Over the course of adventure, he encountered quite a solid bit of racism, and earned a wide plethora of scars, all of them, only adding to appearance that made him alien to people he wanted to protect.
But in the end, he always did what was right.
When I imagined the character, this is how I wanted to see him. Scarred tauren, dangerous and grim looking one, in pristine shining armor, defending a child. Because, monstrous look was not who he truly was, but it was meant to attract attention.
Nakoo Did amazing job of capturing that feeling.
