Mr. Wrights is a feral pigeon we picked up in town yesterday. Unfortunately, he is suffering PMV. He's currently with me while we search for a rescue to take him in because I've not got time to care for him myself. He's such a sweetheart, but so wobbly, poor thing.
No, a pigeon will not survive in the wild with PMV. It will starve, freeze, or be killed by a predator. He can't fly, and he struggles to walk without falling over.
Also, before anyone points it out, that's not my bedsheet haha. It's an big ol' sheet that I am throwing away, I just put it down on the bed so he doesn't get poop or lice on my bedding. He is also not being kept near any other animals !
So, yeah!

Hi, I'm not the OP but I thought I'd answer (hope that's okay!!) PMV is Paramyxovirus Infection, a very nasty lil thing that causes a whole slew of issues, nervous problems, appetite problems. It's very contagious as well, so just... not very pleasant.
Poor lil bubb's probably in for a rough time until they can find a rescue, but at least he's somewhere warm and safe.

surprised you didn't name him Archimedes :P i'm a wildlife carer and in our state we don't take rock pigeons in, its really bad...don't take rock pigeons, rabbits or foxes because they're devastating the Australian environment...good on your state for being okay with taking rock pigeons in, they're little cuties
