mixed-species kids get bullied, especially if they're part pred. a large prey boy has been verbally bullying bibi when nobody is around, and since it's word against word, and ppl tend to believe prey, nothing has happened about it. so nick is showing him how to take advantage of the prey reaction to escape the situation before it gets physical. judy (and prey in general) doesn't know pred parents tend to teach their kid this, for obvious reasons.
judy can have a different view on the matter, thinking that if you get adults involved, the bullying automatically stops. but nick knows better than that.

Zootopia actually isn't exactly like the USA (the police are not as armed as in the USA, and I saw chatter that the reference to a SWAT team in the movie is more akin to some other countries where only specialized teams have guns at all times). For school starting in the USA it probably varies from state to state and city to city, but it's 5-6 around here and more rarely 4.
I don't think there is any specific canonical place in the world but it's an alternate reality of the real world so all the continents are the same but the places are all different. One of the directors said South Africa's geography would support the city but he made it clear that doesn't mean Zootopia is definitely located where South Africa is (and even if it is, the geopolitical realities of South Africa in the real world don't apply).
I love that they put enough thought into the movie for this conversation to be a thing.

To me one of the main mistakes when people review Zootopia is their trying to compare it to an actual place. they try to compare it to the US, they try to compare the prey to the white and the predators to the african-american, etc. Of course it came from something or someplace, but you should not make comparisons. They have their own politics, they have their own minorities, they have their own way to do things. Even the world they live in is not supposed to be the same.
There are, of course, resemblances and we can see ourselves in them, but thats that. You should not identify anything as something from this reality. Just acknowledge there are aspects that mimic those we live here and nothing else. Making those comparisons just make you sound near sighted and biased.
TL;DR Zootopia is Zootopia, earth is earth.

Indeed, though thankfully most seem to understand it. It seems like a huge portion of the negative reviews try to force 1:1 comparisons to the real world that don't exist in the movie. Some positive reviews even call the 'message' mixed, not understanding how the movie shows that acknowledging, playfully making fun of, or even using stereotypes to your advantage is not the same thing as prejudice. The movie obliterates the black and white goodie-two shoes message some of the reviews praise it for just as much as it shows how bad stereotyping taken to the point of prejudice is.
The one thing even the positive reviews seem to miss that gets me is when they praise the 'message' that "everyone can be anything." It's like they completely missed the point that the movie examines how that is not true and that people should try even though everyone in fact does have limitations.
I know I'm going off on a tangent, but basically I agree. It's important to remember the movie is literally about an alternate reality of anthropomorphic animals. The themes are relevant to the real world but the setting itself isn't a 1:1 duplicate of the human world.

Wait so that's their child and not one of Judy's siblings? Guess that explains why he looks cuter than the previous bunnies we've seen.
Think he might be able to work that to his advantage with the bullying actually, just look at them with his big, adorable features to the point where they just can't bring themselves to hurt such a delectable little tyke. Granted there would be a few that are too cold hearted for that to work so Nick's lessons would still be needed.

Yes!
Nick suffered and dealt with his by "don't show them that they got to you" philosophy and became a big cynic whereas Judy seems greatly unaffected by her bullied experience and if anything only added fuel for her subconscious fox prejudice.
Still Judy could've changed in all these years especially if she's protective being a cop and all and has a strong need to stand up for her kid.

The way I saw it, it added fuel to both positive and negative aspects of her personality. It reinforced the prejudice against foxes that she learned from her parents, but it also fueled the protective instincts and drive stand up for the little guy that she already had, making her all the more determined to make it as a police officer.
So I suppose, yeah, she might be blinded by urge to rush in and fix it upon finding out her child is being bullied.

I've known a couple ppl who were complete asshats out of highschool and such, but then ran into them later in life and they have kids... totally different ppl. Being a parent changes things DRASTICALLY.
not to be petty, but it's kinda refreshing to hear from someone who (tried to) Bullied me, about how their kid is getting picked on. Tho i do feel for the kid.
Most bullies i ran into though, were after the reaction. If you don't react, they get bored and give up. the other answer is kinda what nick is doing here with his kid... Show them that if they wanna bully you, they're gonna find out just how terrifying you can be. (Well-faked crazy will still give a bully second thought s about messing with you further.)

This Kevin Hart perfectly sums it up: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wZMrbsEmc30
I imagine Bibi decides to join the scouts. And parents are not happy because they think other kids will taunt him. He still goes, and everything goes fine.. ...........Because Nick keeps in the next room of their leader scout and says that he will rip out his guts if his son something to happen. :))
Bibi's really just a freak in body alone, ain't he? He's just a normal kid outside of that.
My guess, therefore, is that his first and truest friend would likely be someone who's the exact opposite of that: An otherwise normal looking dude or girl with a normal up bringing and background who's utterly and completely weird as hell in personality and behavior. A rebel without a cause probably, someone who doesn't visually seem to care about the bullies or even seems to trump or out wit them, yet is by no means a "normal".
