So in this scene it's like Ringo is basically Frodo, he gets so close to saving the world but succumbs to a mind whammy. Which means Horace must be either the Sam or the Gollum
And props for the rhyming narration, I know that those are tricky to write but they're a lot of fun to the readers :)
