I've mentioned these to a few people before and figured I'd post a recipe! These together are basically my all-time favorite recipe... better than anything I've ever had in a restaurant. I try to cook it at least once for everybody I meet and share it with everyone I can't see in person. SPREAD THE LOVE~
INGREDIENTS
Burger:
1 lb Great Range ground bison meat (good quality beef can be substituted, but it's not as tasty imo)
3 large hamburger buns (trust me, you want 'em big)
1-2 large cloves garlic
3 eggs
garlic salt
1 avocado
9 shrimp
pepper
chili powder
any other burger toppings you'd like, such as ketchup, swiss cheese, bacon, etc
Fries:
1/2 bag of seasoned restaurant style frozen fries. Signature Kitchens extra crispy are my favorite.
garlic salt (...do you see a theme here?)
pepper
dried basil flakes
1/16 stick butter (or less)
INSTRUCTIONS
Burger:
1. Heat skillet to medium to medium-low heat (about 4/10, assuming 5 is medium heat).
2. Mince garlic. Mix garlic, a moderate sprinkling of garlic salt, and ground meat in a bowl. Blend well. Form into 3 fat burger patties.
3. Cook patties for approximately 5-7 minutes on each side, depending on thickness and your stove's heat. Check if they're done using a meat thermometer or by splitting them open with a spatula and seeing if they look fully cooked. If they're getting black/hard on one side, your heat is too high. The trick to these is to cook them long and low to keep all the juice in. During the last two minutes, melt a cheese slice on top, if you wish.
4. Boil water for shrimp and cook them as per instructions on the package. When they're done and deshelled/deveined, season liberally with pepper, garlic salt, and chili powder.
5. Once patties are done, use the pan at same temperature to cook the eggs. Meanwhile, slice up the avocado and spread it on the buns. Once done, add both of these + bacon to the burger (and any other toppings you might like). Serves 3.
Sidenote: The burgers are good with basically everything, but the ingredients mentioned here are my preferred toppings. Sometimes I have bacon on it, but it can be a little overpowering. Substitute and add your favorite toppings as desired!
Fries:
1. Preheat oven. While you wait, spread the fries evenly over tinfoil on a cookie sheet. Season liberally with basil flakes and pepper, moderately with garlic salt.
2. Melt a small amount of butter in the microwave. Drizzle it lightly over the fries. Don't make them swim, but having some pooling on the sheet is fine (it helps spread flavor around)
3. Cook and flip the fries as per their individual cooking instructions. Serves 3.
Sidenote: The butter helps give them extra flavor and a nice soft inside/crispy outside texture if the fries are thin enough. If you find them getting soggy, try less butter and/or a different brand.
To drink, I recommend a good beer or root beer.
If you try these, please let me know what you think! :)
