Kelpies are extremely rare, and often shunned due to their predatory nature. They aren't evil, no more than anything else that needs to eat is. But it's not easy to incorporate them into pony society when they want to eat everyone. Luckily the appetite augmentation spell has proven effective, at least on Driftwood. He no longer needs to eat anything living, even though his predatory instincts still kick in on occasion.
