Never played, never even -seen- the damn game.
All I have to go off of is Yahtzee's review.
Even with such a poor review, this picture rocks.

Seing fanart like this makes me want to go find the games and play them. xD! Even though I've only heard about S.T.A.L.K.E.R. through the fandom. I have no idea what it's about other than what little I infer from fanart every once in a while.
This is freakin' amazing though! I really love their expressions and the dingy background. The lighting is well done too, as is the coloring. Nice job!

I am astonished by the realism in this.. the facial expressions and shading are amazing. If there's anything that feels lacking its the clouds, which just dont feel as real as the amazing background and the foreground figures.. but its not really an issue when the figures themselves, the clothing details, all of that is so detailed!
these 2 seem to be coming from here http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&.....p;t=h&z=18
*Heavy panting* You...gotta be kidding me...*more panting* I've been looking for who drew this, whoever and wherever they may be, and you mean to tell me...IT WAS ON FA THE WHOLE DAMN TIME!??!
On a serious note, mate, this is one of the key works that got me into the fandom. This one stopped me from closing a window that was filling up with furry art, and is the only reason I kept looking. You essentially made me a furry, mate.
Thank you.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. be what ye see above yonder post. It's a Russian-Ukranian game based off of the aftermath of the Chernobyl incident, and set in the modern day (2006-2013). In terms of gameplay, it's a mix of tactical/SWAT-style combat, survival (eating canned food or popping drugs like Vikasolum) and roleplaying.
Oh, and everybody is wearing a homemade HAZMAT suit. The weaker or less well-funded factions (like the Clear Sky faction shown in the picture) often resort to a hooded jacket and a Kevlar vest to protect themselves from the Exclusion Zone's dangers, but the well-connected Duty and Freedom clans have all kinds of fancy gadgets, and that's saying nothing about the Ukranian Army or the United Nations ecologists.
Guns can jam, armor deteriorates over time (or just plain breaks if it's hit in the right place or with the right caliber round), vodka purges your thyroid gland and the strange, seemingly alien environment often claims more lives than gunfire.
So yeah, it's a pretty cool series. Doesn't have any of the chauvinism and bad design of DayZ, although it's probably about as buggy. You should try it, and if you like the games there are plenty of novels and short films to go with.
