I'm actually pretty late posting this one. I got it a few months ago, but I've been very lazy (imagine that!). However, despite being nigh mid April, there are presently snowflakes dancing about outside my window today, so I think that means its still winter, yes?
At any rate, in commemoration of our moving to Canada, here's a lovely winter piece to enjoy! Given that we've been living in California for the past 8 years, our youngest hatchlings (Venjada on the left and Xandrayn on the right - for those of you how cant tell them apart ) have never experienced winter (or snow for that matter) before. This year's winter was actually pretty mild in comparison to normal, but it make for a good intro as we got all needed gear in place to help manage the cold
Of course the best part of winter is the snow and ice that comes with it as sub zero temperatures transform the outdoors! Much fun to be had in the frozen land space, with slipping and sliding, and big puffy snow banks to jump into, the making of snow dragons, and of course the ever traditional snow ball fight! Shato seems rather horrified that her baby is getting such a intense introduction to the latter, particularly when he's already taking a slippery tumble on the frozen creek!
It's not as bad as all that though, snow's soft right? And little ones are resilient to boot! He'll be back on his paws in no time, honest! Besides, everyone knows how hard it is to craft a perfect snow ball for battle, it's piratically an art form. It's not something the inexperienced paws of a youngling can mange with ease to be sure. That's why I have kindly and thoughtfully pre-produced a whooooole stack of said professional artisan crafted frozen projectiles, so the ensuing war may be undertaken in all fairness and equality *nod nod*
I'm not sure if Venjada will join in, she's still experimenting with the fluff-eh properties as she borrows though a snow bank here, but you can be sure that Shato will be helping exact retribution Unfortunately scales are not the best form of insulation for the cold, so the chill will eventually take root. However, that's when the miscalls of a hot cup (or bowl) of cocoa come into play, and a nice family snuggle pile by a roaring fire! All in all, everyone will sleep well tonight I've no doubt!
This picture is now actually hanging in our living room along with the summer beach one, and Shato has decreed that we need to get a full 4 season's done now, hehe. Special thanks to Natoli. who not only is keen on the idea of doing the rest of the seasons, but also did an astounding job bringing such a barren and monotone landscape to vibrant life! Who knew there were so many shades of white that could be fit into a picture like that? Thanks again for putting us and our family onto paper for all to enjoy!

Oh goodness, I should hope not. My hatchlings are made of stern stuff...and I am not! Scales are good for protecting from cuts and scrapes, but they don't armor our emotions :) I feel positively terrible when I hurt someone, and its only amplified all the more so if its one of my own younglings - but alas these thigns can happen. I suppose we have to be thankful that the young do not cling to things quite so hard, and distress can turn to delight the a moment's flash!
All the same, I've still got my claws crossed for a stunned and bemused response, with the playful potential sinking in shortly after for much fun and games

It may take a couple momments really depends how hold they are, you just startle a young one (and age can mean different things to each species. Im 219 approxemently yet im still VERY young by the standards of my breed yet old enough to bare young.) they can plop down and cry a bit. Like i said a little loving and theyll be right as rain.
Yess, age is a relative term, as is maturity - and that in of itself comes in many different flavors to boot. Logic, caution, wisdom, interpersonal relations, behavior, 'playfulness', and all sorts of other elements that don't necessarily develop in tandem with one another. But you are quite right, even if things go south here, it will soon be put aside (if not entirely forgotten) for enjoyable times aplenty
Yess indeedy! It makes it hard to keep a case for 'not making more yet' (though admittedly I'm always down for 'trying' ;)
As cute as little ones are though, I don't want to have so many that I cant keep all the names straight (or even remember them all). Shipping younglings off by the score to frolic on Wyvern isn't quite our style...at least not yet anyway. Everyone changes over time so who can say what the future will bring, hehe.
