GEAR Science, or Genetic Engineering and Advanced Robotics, is the premise for my mainverse. Essentially, it's an undercover science company off the coast of the US that studies physical changes through unethical experiments in genetic hybridification and nanobot transformations. Started as a research facility to investogate the effects of nuclear reactions on wildlife, GEAR broke off from the US to practice without regulations and form their own science-heavy civilization. Char used to work there until he found himself turned into a humanoid fox due to some experiment he doesn't remember. GEAR expelled him for self-experimentation, even though he doesn't remember what happened.

Around the time Char's change happened, a group known as Black Claw escaped the GEAR facilities. They consisted of several Test Subjects and Experiments (all of their profiles in my gallery and on Tumblr) who plan to put a stop to GEAR's unethical practices, including kidnapping "Mainlanders" for experimentation.

One of these Test Subjects was Kit, the last kitsune. Her species wiped off the face of the earth by GEAR's experiments (although her husband is still alive, stuck as a plain red fox under Char's supervision) Black Claw saw her as uncooperative and thus kicked her out of the group, though now she plots with her assistants Chz't, Marissa, and Jessica to achieve revenge.

That's a VERY brief summary of the GEAR universe. If you ever have a quesrion about a character, don't ne afraid to ask!

And Trasdyn , an AU kitsune with an Disassociative Identity Disorder who escapes with Black Claw, only to drink a concoction that changed her into a shapeshifter. Traumatized while maintaining a mental link with her sister as she was slaughtered in GEAR, Trasdyn drank said concoction, expecting it to kill her. Instead, she lost her mental powers and gained the ability to shapeshift herself and others, sometimes turning into her sister in a coping mechanism for her loss.
