For those who don't know in the original My Little Pony tv show there was a minor villain by the name of Princess Porcine, a anthro pig girl who basically turned ponies to crystal so she can bask in her beauty before being taught the magic of friendship. This generation four interpretation of the character has quite a different backstory and species change but, well, pretty much all the characters from gen one had overhaul anyway, be more in spirit with the show you could say.
In this version Princess Porcine starts off as a nasty nickname for Madame Porcorum, a reclusive pony ex-model who used to be a self centred egotistical snob until she smashed a old pig statue when someone refused her service, cursing her to be quite swinish. She purchased a dress from Rarity and had it fitted by the mare herself, who lamented to her how she had changed ways and how all those nasty things people said hurt her. Rarity remembering the teachings of Twilight decided to befriend the cursed pony, and they ended up getting close quickly.
However as time went on Porcorum started to ask eyebrow raising things from Rarity. Asking her to steal information from the palace, to keep eating her food, cake after cake...Rarity's friends did warn her that something was up, but Rarity insisted she was a friend and that friends stick together no matter what just as Twilight taught her. Well lo and behold, turns out said friend was slowly porkifying her into a fat pig pony, the girl really a villain who had taken up the taunt of Princess Porcine as a official title and planed on making Equestria into one giant pigsty. After all if everyone is a fat smelly pig then her much thinner cleaner self would be considered the pinnacle of beauty once again.
She was stopped by the main six and Rarity learned while you should help anyone in need, you also need to be aware when people are taking advantage. She would become a reoccurring villain, tricking any pony she finds into becoming a fellow pig.
