Bathday for my love's suit. Yesterday I washed Rescue, today I was Stryker.
I am so thankful for the beautiful weather we have right now. The pine tree pollen is gone and its not too hot. Yesterday and today have been the perfect days for hanging clothes out to dry and I'm taking advantage of it. Our suits won't get that weird funky outdoors smell that NC gets when it's in the upper 80s+, and our suits won't take forever to dry.
I want to take this time to express the importance of cleaning and maintaining your suits. This should be common sense, but I know a lot of people do not think about it. They're fur, you get hot, you sweat. That breeds bacteria, which you do not want! Please take the time to properly clean your suits. Not only will they continue to look nice and smell fresh, they won't have bacteria that can potentially make you sick. Cleaning your heads/masks is just as important. Foam is a perfect place for bacteria to breed. It's dark, it's soft, it holds sweat. You can't see it in this picture, but our fursuit heads are sitting on a fan inside. I have thoroughly cleaned then with an alcohol solution on the inside/foam and (it sounds silly) a carpet cleaner on the outside/fur.

most faux fur is washer safe, as long as its turned inside out or in a pillow case or lingerie bag. It also needs to be washed on cold/cold and gentle, hand wash, or dry clean settings. If possible and extra spin cycle at the end of it works wonders on drawing more water out and helping it dry faster. I would never recommend putting it in the dryer. Dryers rely on heat and faux fur will melt. That's also why it needs to be washed on cold.
That's my experience, though. Definitely check with your maker. They may have used a fur that isn't machine washable, or done some airbrush work that would prevent machine washing, and then you would need to hand wash it.
