The first sprite to be rendered in XYG's runtime is Chomp! So, yeah, the project isn't dead; I recently picked it back up again, and so far, I have image rendering and full keyboard input completed. It can also be scripted from Squirrel, so I can make simple games with it. Not gonna release it until I have the archive unpacking implemented, though, but once that's done, I'll have the runtime and a manual game packer, which will include the standard library for XYG (which is mainly just a bunch of constants, heheh).
Once that's out, people will be able to make games with it, however it won't come with the protection that using the editor will come with, such as being able to make sure essential things aren't overwritten and packing code neatly so that it all connects properly. But if you know what you're doing, you can code the game yourself, use the compiler to pack it up with a makefile-like project definition, and release a game to run in the runtime environment.
After I get packing/unpacking done, I'll start testing the RE on other platforms. For Mac and Linux, I can just download images of those systems, but I'll need the actual hardware to develop for things like GCW and Pandora.
That's where you guys come in! I'm accepting donations to help pay for hardware, such as GCW Zero, Dingoo (quite a few people still use that, it seems), Pyra, Canoo, Ouya, Raspberry Pi, and anything else I can develop for. I have a couple friends who have offered to fix my OpenPandora for me, so that's going to be a huge help. Anyone else who'd like to donate, you can send money here. Also, feel free to suggest any other systems you'd like me to try to get this thing running on.
